Les Housses, 2023

This project follows the endowment awarded by the Fondation Carmignac in 2022 to VOTO XO for the Grand Prix de la Design Parade de Toulon. VOTO XO was invited to redesign two mobile carts at the entrance to Villa Carmignac, which welcome visitors during the summer season on the island of Porquerolles.

The structure of the existing carts was kept, to which we adapted a wider cover for rainy and sunny days, in a padded envelope made of outdoors nautical fabric, and by a lacquered steel table top and solid ash wood handles. The selected materials were specifically picked to withstand the maritime weather conditions on the island.

The fabric work was entirely hand sewn and made in Marseille with Relax Factory’s upholstery atelier, while the wood and metal work was carried out by the Sud Side workshops in North Marseille.
