VOTO XO
Quinze Heures, 2024
This project was awarded the Chanel Prize at the Design Parade in Toulon, 2022. We imagined this window display as an extension of our camping-inspired project, Sardine Sardine, a moment in time in the sleepy hours that follow a long lunch in summer at the campsite, a sieste in the open tent, pitched by a wheat field.
We delved into vintage and outdoors Chanel archives, noticing interesting techniques in the creation of the 1990’s Naked Patchwork handbag, notably the checkered “quilting” of transparent orange and beige vinyl.
We wanted to use materials exclusively from reuse, and crafted a quilt from an old parachute, using its high quality ripstop fabric to create a pattern by weaving each padded strip together, assembled with steel eyelets, zips and carabiners. The fabrics were handsewn using a whip stitch, characteristic of the Naked Patchwork bag seams, and those of camping tents.
